Amy Carlson
Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn
(Illinois) and was a part of her early years living in Chicago. Amy lived in
Glen Ellyn Illinois, right up to the time she graduated from junior college.
Her family also lived in the Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb)
taught at American School. Amy is the mother of two sisters: Betsy and Lori,
and a brother Joe. Amy has travelled all over Europe by herself as well as
together with her family. Because her parents worked as teachers who taught,
they could travel together every summer, and camping across the United States.
They've camped in every US state, with the exception of Alaska. Amy traveled to
Rwanda to assist in efforts to help after the war of 1994. Amy showed her
artistic talents early through acting in school productions, and winning
writing contests. High school was where she was a star athlete and was the
first to participate in the ever 3200 meter relay race for girls in the
Illinois track. After sustaining an injury, she was able to return to theater
and play many roles that included Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July"
and Wallace Shawn's film "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy went to Knox
College in Galesburg, Illinois, where she graduated with an B.A. East Asian
history, with an emphasis on Theater. She relocated to Chicago following
graduation and began studying Improv at the Improv Olympic and acting in the
theater at The Actor's Center. Shortly after graduation, she was offered a
permanent job on the now-defunct soap drama Another World (1964). In the category
of "Outstanding supporting actress in a Daytime Drama Series", she
has been nominated to Daytime Emmy Awards. Her most memorable roles were of
strong women like Alex Taylor (1999), Maggie Pistone (2000), Katie Owen (2003),
and Linda Reagan (2003). Carlson is currently living in New York City together
with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and she is part-owner of Frenchkiss
Records. Amy continues to pursue unique and diverse roles in the world of film.
