Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born 25th August, 1949) is an American TV chef who is a popular personality. Burrell was also an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. She hosts Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network and the co-host of Worst Cooks in America. Anne Burrell, a Food Network host sporting spiky blonde hair and an ebullient personality, explains how to prepare restaurant-style meals at home, using easy methods. Chef Burrell is also a part of some of New York's top restaurants, has been studying Italian cuisine and its traditions, and was a contestant on Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a youngster, growing up in New York's upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America has sparked her interest in the management of restaurants after she graduated with the English and Communications degree from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America has been a great adventure. It was difficult to master and do enough or put in the hours. Following graduation, Chef Burrell was able to spend a full period of time in Italy taking classes at an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and working in La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria as well as La Bottega del 30 a one-Michelin star restaurant in Tuscany. In her time in Italy she grew to truly comprehend and appreciate the philosophy behind Italian culinary and cultural traditions that has had a profound impact in her perspective. Burrell is a well-known ambassador to the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation and has been on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which assists kids with disabilities. As a guest speaker and teacher, she travels around the United States to discuss her culinary passion and professional career. Anne always felt fortunate that she could share the passion that she had for cooking with others.
